Hosting International Indigenous Scholars

Researchers from the Mexican state of Hidalgo discussed the impacts of transnational movements in 2019 with the Consul General of Mexico, Javier Diáz de León, pictured center-right. Dr. Luis Francisco Zambrano and Dr. Berenice Alfaro Ponce, both faculty from the Mexican state of Hidalgo, discussed transnational collaborations with the Consul General.

Dr. Berenice Alfaro Ponce, invited researcher from the Autonomous University of Hidalgo, meets with local women in a community group meeting in metro Atlanta to learn about how this group has organized to bring family members to visit the U.S. after years of being apart. The Club Tanchinieblas of Hidalgo, a transnational community organization, supported her visit and has been arranging return visits for several years.
ESCUELA Project in the Community
Pictured here are local multilingual, Latinx high school students attending a field trip at a dual language immersion elementary school. They were able to observe DLI classrooms and learn more about becoming future DLI teachers.
