- Biography
Carina Freeman joined the CREATE Teacher Residency Project in 2021 as Manager of University District Teacher Leadership and transitioned to Georgia State University in July 2022 as Director of Residency Programming. Carina holds a B.A. in communication from Cleveland State University, a M.Ed. in elementary education from John Carroll University, and a graduate principal licensure also from Cleveland State University.
Freeman is a strategic mission driven educator and leader with over 25 years of experience that spans across diverse educational settings. Her experiences include teaching in elementary and middle school classrooms, leading as school principal, and serving in district senior level leadership. In her leadership roles, she was successful in developing strong professional learning communities aimed at building the instructional leadership capacity of educators. She is a progressive educator committed to creating equitable, innovative and inclusive learning environments where all students, staff and families are valued and appreciated.
Freeman is originally from Cleveland, Ohio a.k.a. “Believeland.” She enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching football, food tastings, karaoke and traveling to tropical destinations.
