What we do
Graduate Admissions
The Office of Graduate Student Services has two dedicated admission advisors who work with applicants to complete their graduate application. We guide applicants through the application process and calculate overall GPA for those graduate programs that have a minimum GPA requirement, as well as ensure that applicants meet the minimum published admission criteria established by the program faculty within the college. We encourage applicants to submit their graduate application as soon as possible and not wait until the deadline. Applicants can monitor their application status by logging into their submitted application and viewing their program checklist that mirrors the admission requirements for the specific program the applicant is applying.
Graduate Advising
The College of Education & Human Development Office of Graduate Student Services (GSS) is available for both in-person and virtual appointments for graduate student advisement Monday-Friday 8:30 am -5:15 pm. Please contact your college-assigned graduate advisor for scheduling an appointment.
Keep in mind that your faculty advisor is your first point of contact for academic advisement. A graduate student’s faculty advisor will advise on when to take courses within the program of study. Graduate students should always consult with their assigned faculty advisor for course selection and approval for course work outside the program of study.
The Office of Graduate Student Services (GSS) partners with program faculty to help graduate students complete their degrees. We assist with:
- navigating graduate student policies and procedures
- reviewing completed graduate transfer credit
- working closely with faculty advisors on graduate degree requirements to include petitions or course substitutions where applicable
- offering graduate workshops each semester to assist with academic and non-academic needs
- referring you to other resources on campus when needed
- recommending you for certification (when applicable)
- evaluating your clearance for graduation
