GACE and Georgia Educator Ethics Assessments
This information is for candidates seeking admission to or enrolled in a teacher preparation program, or in educational leadership, school psychology or school counseling programs.
The state of Georgia requires such candidates to take various GACE and Educator Ethics assessments as part of the educator certification process. These computer-delivered assessments have been developed by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) and are delivered by the Education Testing Service (ETS). You will take these tests at different times.
Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE)
This assessment helps the GaPSC ensure candidates have the knowledge and skills needed to perform the job of an educator in Georgia’s public schools.
- The GACE Program Admission Assessment (Combined Tests I, II, and III) is an admission requirement (unless candidate meets qualifications for exemption). Georgia State will not exempt holders of master’s degrees. Students can access free study materials through ETS, the Khan Academy, or by emailing gsugacehelp@gsu.edu. Download this PowerPoint for accessing Khan Academy resources. When registering for the assessment add the program provider (Georgia State University – school code 5090) as a score recipient or we will not receive a notification you have completed the assessment. Select Reason for Testing #1.
- The Content Assessment tests your content knowledge. It is taken after enrollment prior to program completion. There are different content assessments for each program. You will receive information about these tests as you near completion of your program. Undergraduate and graduate students in Educational Leadership, School Psychology or Counseling – select Reason for Testing #2. Other graduate students select Reason for Testing #3.
Georgia Educator Ethics Assessment
This assessment focuses on professionalism in education, in relationships with students, schools, colleagues and communities.
- The Georgia Educator Ethics (360) — an admission requirement. Completion of this assessment is required for admission, though there is no “Pass/Fail” grade assigned. Program entry candidates must add your program provider (Georgia State University, school code 5090) as a score recipient when you register or we will not receive notification that you have completed the assessment. Select Reason for Testing #2.
- The Georgia Ethics for Educational Leadership (380) Assessment — an admission requirement for the educational leadership programs (M.Ed., Ed.S. and Ed.D). Completion of this assessment is required for admission, though there is no “Pass/Fail” grade assigned. Program entry candidates must add your program provider (Georgia State University, school code 5090) as a score recipient when you register or we will not receive notification that you have completed the assessment. Select Reason for Testing #7.

How to Register for the GACE and Ethics Assessments
The Educational Testing Service (ETS) is the test supplier for the GACE and for the Georgia Educator Ethics Assessments.
Important Step: you must first establish a MyPSC account at the MyPSC website. As you create your account, you will indicate a different “Reason for Testing” specific to the test and your student status:
Program Admission – select Reason for Testing #1. Program entry candidates must add their program provider (Georgia State University – school code 5090) as a score recipient when they register or the university will not receive notification that you have completed the assessment. Students whose primary language is not English may request PLNE accommodations for extended testing time.
Georgia Educator Ethics (360) and Georgia Ethics for Educational Leadership (380) – select Reason for Testing #7. Be sure to review the four-step registration process on the link provided here. Program entry candidates must add their program provider (Georgia State University school code 5090) as a score recipient when they register or the university will not receive notification that they have completed the assessment.
In step #3 of the registration process, candidates should check their email SPAM folder for the email from ETS. In step #4 of the registration process, the candidate is in the ETS portal (not MyPSC) and they must create a new account under “Registration.” To do so, the candidate should choose the option: Test Takers.
Content Assessments: Undergraduate students (or graduate students in educational leadership, school psychology, or counseling) – select Reason for Testing #2.
Content Assessments: Graduate students (except in educational leadership, school psychology, or counseling) – select Reason for Testing #3 (students in educational leadership, school psychology, or counseling select Reason for Testing #2).
