Our resource room is open to families with children enrolled at either program site. The room has a meeting table, printer and workstation and our parent lending library. It has a growing number of books, magazines and DVDs related to infant and child development. The Parent Lending Library is in the Suttles Center. Check out books on preschool and toddler activities, financial planning, behavior disorders, etc.
Our library policy allows you to check out books and materials for free. But check with the resource coordinator in regards to materials. We need materials returned by the due date, located in the back of the book. Books not returned by due date pay a five cent per day late fee upon return in cash.
The Child Development Program has a parent committee at both centers. We encourage parents to join one of the subcommittees. The subcommittees include:
Room representatives provide connections between parents and the child’s classroom staff. As a room representative, you’ll get to know other parents and your child’s teachers. We appreciate our volunteers and parents and the help they offer us.
Some of the things you might do as a room representative include:
Coordinating activities to honor your child’s classroom teacher
Requesting volunteers to help out in the classroom
To find out how to become a room representative see your child’s lead teacher.
The Child Development Program’s childcare centers are nut free facilities. Check the ingredients of all items brought in for birthday celebrations. We want to ensure that:
products are nut free
all products come from a nut-free production environment
We offer a suggested snack list available in your child’s classroom. Give us one weeks’ advance notice to ensure staff in our classrooms have time to prepare. We also encourage parents to plan birthday celebrations during the afternoon snack.
