The University Undergraduate Commencement recognizes candidates receiving bachelor’s degrees. More information about this ceremony can be found here.
The College of Education & Human Development Graduate Commencement recognizes master’s (M.A., M.A.T., M.Ed. and M.S.), educational specialist (Ed.S.) and Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) candidates only.
The College of Education & Human Development’s Spring Graduate Commencement will be held in Georgia State University’s Sports Arena (125 Decatur St. SE, Atlanta).

Spring Graduate Commencement will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at 10 a.m.
Spring Graduate Commencement is for all spring and summer master’s (M.A., M.A.T., M.Ed. and M.S.) candidates, spring and summer educational specialist (Ed.S.) candidates and spring Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) candidates.
All College of Education and Human Development undergraduate and Ph.D. candidates will participate in separate, university-level ceremonies. For more information about those ceremonies, click here.
Yes, registration is required to participate in the College of Education & Human Development’s Fall Graduate Commencement. To register, fill out and submit the form on this page.
The deadline to register for the ceremony is April 30.
All students who are participating will be required to wear the official Georgia State cap and gown. You must wear regalia to participate in the ceremony.

If you are a member of Kappa Delta Pi and need to pick up KDP cords, visit www.kdp.org.
If you need cords from any other student organizations or groups, check with a representative from those respective organizations.
All graduates must be checked in and present in the student holding room by 9:30 a.m.; graduates arriving after that may not be permitted to march. Important instructions about the ceremony will be given to students and we will then begin lining up for the processional.
Please wear your robe and bring your cap, honor cord, etc. Graduate Commencement staff do not have extra tassels, caps or other items, so be sure to check you have all parts of your regalia before arrival.
Do not bring extra items to the holding area. You will not be allowed to march in the processional with extra possessions. Ladies, please limit your purse to a small clutch or shoulder bag worn discreetly under your robe. Note: The College of Education & Human Development is not responsible for any valuables left unattended in the designated holding area or ceremony room.
Family and friends are invited to attend the ceremony. Students may invite unlimited guests; however, we must have an RSVP for each person attending. Please be sure to confirm the number of guests attending when you register for Graduate Commencement.
Guests will not need tickets to attend the ceremony. There is ample seating for all guests; however, seating is on a first come, first served basis. The doors to the arena will open at 9 a.m. for seating.

The ceremony will last approximately 1 ½ hours.
No, Graduate Commencement attendees will not need tickets. However, please remind your guests that seating is done on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Photographers from Grad Images will take photos of each student as they walk across and exit the stage during our Graduate Commencement. Representatives will reach out to all students via mail and/or e-mail in the days following the ceremony with a passport-sized photo proof, along with the opportunity to select from a variety of photo packages. Please remember to check your e-mail in the weeks following Graduate Commencement for this information. There is no obligation to purchase these photos.
Additional candid photos of the ceremony will be posted to the College of Education and Human Development’s social media accounts and e-mailed to graduates.
