Devon Slaughter is a clinical mental health counseling graduate student and an Atlanta native. His research interests include the impact of intergenerational trauma on the African American community. He hopes to examine the negative physical and psychological outcomes associated with high trauma exposure in economically disadvantaged African American children. Additionally, he is interested in interventions that promote resilience, healing and mindfulness in the African American community, such as those provided through the grants in the HOPE lab. His future goals include doctoral study in Counseling, and also serving the community in a private practice setting.
