Jennifer Esposito, chair of the Department of Educational Policy Studies, was interviewed on the Pretty Heady Stuff podcast about the book she co-authored entitled, “Introduction to Intersectional Qualitative Research.”
The book – which she wrote with Venus Evans-Winters, founder of the Planet Venus Institute and a certified clinical trauma professional – is designed to help students understand how to incorporate intersectionality into qualitative research. Intersectionality is a theory that describes how the overlap of social identities, such as race, gender, sexuality and class, contributes to the specific type of system oppression and discrimination that individuals experience.
