Department of Educational Policy Studies alum Lisa Thompson (Ed.D. ’21) is the 2021 recipient of the Georgia Educational Research Association’s Distinguished Paper Award.
This award, which recognizes her paper entitled, “Literacy Leadership: How One Principal Promoted Literacy Scholarship in an Urban School,” is sponsored by the State and Regional Educational Research Associations (SRERA), an affiliate of the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
As the 2021 awardee, Thompson will present her paper at SRERA’s session during the American Educational Research Association’s 2022 Conference in San Diego, Calif.
Thompson has been an educator for more than 22 years, spending 15 years in the classroom, four years as an instructional coach and five years as an assistant principal of instruction. She earned her Ed.D. in educational leadership earlier this year.
