When looking back at his time in the College of Education & Human Development’s instructional technology doctoral program, Eric Sembrat appreciates the connections he made with other students and how they collaborated in their coursework and research.
“We each progressed through the program at our own speeds, but I loved the way we supported each other through defenses and presentations towards graduation,” he said.
Sembrat was recognized for his academic achievements at the college’s annual Honors Day Ceremony on April 22.
He is the 2021 recipient of the Outstanding Dissertation in Learning Technologies Award, which is given to a student whose dissertation demonstrates excellence and advances the state of knowledge in the field of instructional technology.
“For me, this award celebrated the completion of a non-traditional dissertation – a literature review and a case study that allowed me to look at our field with a unique lens,” he said. “I was honored to have had such an incredible dissertation committee to help guide me through the process: Brendan Calandra, Jonathan Cohen, Maggie Renken and Lauren Margulieux.”
