Jihee Hong is a fourth-year doctoral student at Georgia State University’s Counseling Psychology program. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology, then earned her master’s degree in Counseling and Clinical Psychology from Sogang University in Seoul, Korea. Before starting a Ph.D. program, she worked at Sogang University Counseling Center as an intern counselor and earned a certificate as a counselor in Korea. Currently, she is a doctoral trainee at Georgia Tech Counseling Center, where she provides counseling to students.
Her research interests include interpersonal theories of suicide, attachment, self-criticism, self-compassion and multicultural interventions. She intends to investigate how personality factors influence mental representations of the self and others, along with relational experiences and cultural differences. Also, she hopes to work on improving methodologies for intervention studies, including suicidal prevention and cultural competency.
