Min Kyu Kim, Ph.D., published “A design experiment on learner participation regulation during asynchronous online discussions” in the Journal of Computers in Education. The article relates to the Spencer grant project, which was completed in 2019.
We asked him some questions about his work:
How does this publication help with your research goals and/or interests?
“This publication relates to my research interest in technology-enhanced formative assessment and feedback.”
Summarize your topic:
“In this design research, we applied the learner classification methods proposed in our previous work into a design experiment to help students deeper engage in online asynchronous discussion activities. Specifically, this design research project presents two interventions drawn from self/co-regulation and feedback literature: 1) extended peer moderation periods and 2) multimodal participation feedback.”
