College of Education & Human Development alumnus Ingrid Thompson-Sellers (Ph.D. ’12) has been named the eighth president of South Georgia State College in Douglas, Ga.
Thompson-Sellers, who has been South Georgia State’s interim president since 2016, previously served as a senior associate dean and professor of business information systems at Georgia State University. In addition, she served in a variety of roles at Georgia Perimeter College, including interim vice president for academic affairs, business information systems faculty, department chair, dean of business, and campus dean at Newton, Decatur, Clarkston and GPC Online.
While she was working on her doctorate at Georgia State, Thompson-Sellers appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with other students who cared as much about higher education as she did.
“Everyone had something to contribute and a unique role to play,” Thompson-Sellers said. “It is this notion of uniqueness, collaboration and individual talent that has helped me build strong teams that will get the job done.”
