Ready to increase breathing fluency in your school?
On January 11, 2020, from 9:00 am-12:00 pm the CPS Department, in collaboration with Cheryl Crawford, will host the On the Same Breath Summit. Teachers, counselors, administrators, and other school leaders are heeding the call to transform their classrooms and schools into spaces that honor students social and emotional well-being. Participants will:
- Learn the four 2019-2020 breaths for 40 days sequence
- Review the four 2018-2019 breaths
- Learn how to help students manage a range of emotions and develop skills for coping
- Learn to promote deep breathing practices for individual students, groups of students, and for yourself
- Hear preliminary results from research being done to support the use of deep breathing practices in schools
This is an invitation to teachers, counselors, administrators, superintendents, students, and parents to participate in a session that will give you knowledge on how to manage uncomfortable emotional surges. Even if you don’t think of yourself as a breathing or mindfulness teacher you can create an environment where you and your students are happy and creative.

*All of the new techniques are hand-drawn by Tapestry Charter’s High School student Carter O Connell.
Cheryl Crawford is dedicated to connecting children to the power of deep breathing practices. Cheryl’s teaching journey began in an Atlanta elementary school classroom, where she worked as a classroom teacher, reading specialist and curriculum coordinator for 11 years. Following her education career, Cheryl trained in yoga, started a yoga studio, and founded On the Same Breath. She is honored to be the first official school yoga coordinator for the state of Georgia and to have her curriculum, United States of You, as part of Dekalb County Schools. On the Same Breath was implemented in more than 90 schools in its inaugural year, 2018-2019, and Cheryl has gone on to bring the training locally and nationally to other schools, agencies, and groups including the GA Department of Education and Communities in Schools.
