Microsoft Software Reference and Resource Minimize
Welcome to the College of Education reference and resource page for Microsoft software.   Currently the technical support staff is deploying Microsoft Office 2007 to the remainder of the College and should be completed by the end of March 2008.

We are also in the process of planning and testing the college wide deployment of the new Microsoft Vista operating system tentatively beginning in Summer Semester 2008 or sometime in Fall Semester 2008. Please check back on a regular basis as we add and update reference material and resources you can use.

Some of you are asking - How can I open files created with Office 2007 in an older version of Office?

Did you know that GSU's online eTraining, which is free to all faculty and staff, now has new Microsoft Office 2007 online self study classes?  You can learn at your own pace.

Check out the College of Education's Instructional Technology Center website for information on Microsoft Office 2007 Workshops.  They would be happy to schedule training sessions for groups of people with a minimum of five participants.

Using the Ribbon

The latest version of Microsoft Office, Office 2007 (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), introduces the faculty, staff and students to a new file format that does not work with older versions of Office. Office 2007 also looks very different from previous Office versions.  The traditional menu system has been replaced by a "Ribbon".
