Upgrading an Existing Certificate

Option #1: Applicants for a certificate upgrade who are Georgia Public/Private School Employees submitting paperwork to their employer

If you are employed by a Georgia public or private school system, we recommend that your employer submit your materials to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Only your employer can verify completion of course requirements (by signing the Employer Assurance form) so that any pay raise may immediately take effect. Some school systems pay the fee for a new certificate.

You must complete the following forms and obtain an official copy of your GSU transcript:

Submit your Georgia PSC Application for Certification, Employer Assurance Form, Verification of Lawful Presence and Affidavit, and your GSU transcript to your school system office. The system personnel director will sign the Employer Assurance Form and submit your materials to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Note: You probably already have created a MyPSC account, where you can monitor your status.

Option #2: Applicants for a certificate upgrade who submit paperwork directly to the Georgia PSC:

If you are not employed by a Georgia public or private school system, or you choose to submit your paperwork directly to the Georgia PSC, you must complete the following forms and obtain an official copy of your GSU transcript:

Submit your Georgia PSC Application for Certification, Verification of Lawful Presence and Affidavit, and your GSU transcript directly to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission:
