Membership Program

Membership in GAE-SP brings with it numerous opportunities and benefits. In addition to allowing you to make valuable professional contacts and new friends, GAE-SP and GAE offer their members:

Scholarships
You have the opportunity to win a $1,000 GAE Scholarship for Excellence.

Rights
Abuses against student teachers occur with alarming frequency across the nation, so the NEA Student Program created a Bill of Rights for Student Teachers. This provides legal assistance to members involved in related litigation so your rights are protected.

Professional Libraries
You have access to the GAE and NEA professional libraries and vast research materials -- two of the most extensive educational research and library departments in the nation.

Workshops
You may take advantage of state and nationally sponsored workshops and conferences on topics that include discipline, coping with stress, teacher certification, evaluation, and other areas especially designed to meet the needs of future teachers.

Representation
You have direct representation in establishing chapter, GAE and NEA policies and positions.

Publications
KNOW Magazine - The official newspaper of the Georgia Association of Educators. NEA Today - The annual magazine from the National Education Association. Tomorrow's Teachers - The annual magazine for NEA Student members.

Insurance
You get $1 million worth of liability insurance coverage to protect you anytime you are involved in work with school children, either student teaching or observing a classroom.

Opportunities
You have the opportunity to work with the Association by lobbying to affect change in such things as teacher education, legislation affecting teachers, certification requirements, etc.
