Mandates
|
|
Part C of IDEA mandates that states develop a system of services for children from birth through age two with disabilities and their families. Babies Can't Wait is Georgia's program developed jointly by the Department of Human Resources and the Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) appointed by the Governor. |
|
|
Part C professional and paraprofessional staff serving children and their families must be well trained and encouraged to pursue professional excellence. Project SCEIs, funded by Babies Can't Wait, is a collaborative effort of Georgia's colleges and universities dedicated to the training needs and professional development of Georgia's early intervention personnel. |

SCEIs Training Content
|
|
Training modules provide personnel with the skills and knowledge to provide appropriate services to young children with disabilities and their families. These modules were developed from competencies adopted by Babies Can't Wait which specify what early interventionists should know and be able to do. |
|
|
Modules are presented in two levels: |
| Level I is designed for those who do not hold a college degree in an early intervention related discipline. | |
| Level II addresses the needs of professionals who have college degrees in an early intervention discipline. |

Funded by the GA Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health, Babies Can't Wait Program through funds appropriated under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). |
