Dear Parents,
As
you know, the
Saturday
School for Scholars and Leaders
program requires that students meet certain criteria for enrollment in the
program. This is done in an effort to
target students of high ability for our classes. In response to a growing problem, we are
modifying enrollment procedures for kindergarten children only. One of our admission criteria involves having
scores on standardized achievement tests in the 90th percentile or
higher. We will generally accept any
nationally normed standardized achievement
tests. However, this has become
increasingly problematic for kindergarten students who do not get tested until
1st grade, leaving private testing as the only alternative for
admission to the
Saturday
School program.
Therefore,
we are offering a “Provisional Acceptance” program for kindergarten
students. Under this program,
kindergarten students can be admitted provisionally without standardized test
scores. The letter of recommendation,
application form and fee would still be required to complete
registration. Students who enroll in
Saturday
School under the Provisional
Acceptance program must provide the required test scores within one year of
first Saturday School session attended. The submitted test scores must meet our
admission criteria in order for the student to continue in the program past the 1 year
deadline.
The
Provisional Acceptance program will be available for Kindergarten students
only. All other students are still
required to submit proper documentation including test scores, when they are
applying to
Saturday
School for the first time.
