Thinking that Clicks!Back by popular demand Saturday School is offering Technology Camp this summer! Our camp will enhance today’s technology savvy students by introducing the latest tools in technology and reinforcing their skills. They will be able to apply what they learn to their every day lives in addition to learning team building skills. Incorporating the right technology can motivate digital natives to become enriched with their learning. Students will develop habits of the mind with technology through projects such as animations, graphic design, movie-making, dynamic slide shows, and web design. Beyond the “wow”, technology provides nearly limitless potential for connectivity, creativity and learning. The fun is only a click away!!

DATES: Monday, June 2nd to Friday, June 6th   

TIME: 8:00am to 3:00pm

LOCATION: Georgia State University (downtown campus, just like regular Saturday School)

TUITION: The total cost for the camp is $295. A NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of $150 is due by April 21st to reserve your child's spot for this exciting summer opportunity. The remaining amount, $145, is due three weeks prior to the start of Techs-ploration, May 12th.

REGISTRATION: Online Application will be available beginning MARCH 29; The deadline is May 19.

                                                     NOTE: Students attending day camp must meet the same Saturday School enrollment criteria.      

LUNCH: Students will need to bring their own lunch; however, lunch will be supervised by the Saturday School staff.                                                                                                                                                   (Please refrain from using the vending machines. Money will not be given to students in case the machines swallow it up)

CURRICULUM:

Grades K, 1 & 2:

Storybooks-A big city, a mountain range, a swimming pool - where will your story take place? Using thousands of objects, hundreds of scenery combinations, students will discover the joy in creating their own storybooks. Students will improve their writing and story telling skills. Inviting all artistic kids to paint, stamp, scribble, write, imagine, explore and dream - all with the click of a mouse. Come play in the ultimate creative playground. You can create dynamic works of art using a variety of virtual media - from oil paints and collage to rainbows, trees and more. This software lets you work with traditional art tools like  chalk, paint, pencil and crayons in the Realistic Paint Mode, or "crazy art tools" such as the "electric mixer", wacky brushes, spray paint and more. In addition the students will create a slideshow by using realistic art tools like crayons, paint brushes with sounds and screen transitions. They will also choose to import and transform photos, add dramatic effects, record their voices, sounds and transitions.

Grades 3 & 4:  

Bring Photos to Life -  Delight Grandparents! Students will learn how to add stunning special effects, soundtracks and your own voice narration to your photo stories. Personalize them with captions and titles. Have your young learners create digital stories in no time at all? These would be small enough to share them with family and friends through email.                                       

Web Design - Students learn to design their own webpages. They express their ideas, images, sounds and animation effect. Whether you are brand new to web design or already have experience and re an aspiring web master, this course will allow you to increase your knowledge while building an amazing and dynamic website of your own. General internet topics will also be discussed.

 Grades 5 -8:                             

Movie Making - This camp is ideal for movie buffs, aspiring filmmakers and creative kids who are interested in visual arts. If you'd like to learn what really goes on behind the scenes to shoot, edit and produce a movie, come join us. Students will learn how to record audio/video using electronic sources. Create Hollywood movie right from your desktop. The course will feature fun, focused and easy-to-follow instructions, so students can make their own movies, create storyboards, edit and arrange footage, add titles, credits, captions, music, sound effects and scene transitions. You'll end up with your very own digital movie to share with your family and friends.

Claymation - Animation will attract students who love to draw and are excited about the impressive special graphic effects they have seen on TV or in movies. Students will do frame by frame cartoons of claymation with sophisticated software to create 3d projects. In small groups students will scriptwriting, storyboarding, set design and construction, clay character creation , filming and final editing.
