About Saturday School for Scholars and Leaders

Let the parents, teachers and students tell you!Click here to find out

Saturday is not your typical day for school but participants in Georgia State University's Saturday School for Scholars and Leaders are not your typical students. Since 1975, parents and school personnel have identified scholars and leaders to participate in this special Saturday program. Each session, Atlanta area educators teach a variety of enrichment classes, ranging from the fine and applied arts to math and science, designed to challenge participants at all levels (K- 8th grade).

Saturday School students find these classes so enjoyable, that each session approximately 65% of the students return, and in some cases, students have attended as many as 34 consecutive sessions. These students represent a diverse cross section of the metro-Atlanta community, coming from home schooling experiences(3%), private (41%), and public (56%) schools.

All classes are held on the downtown main campus under the supervision of the Department of Early Childhood Education.  The diverse curriculum is structured to offer educational opportunities emphasizing leadership, scholarship, and cultural awareness.
