Biography

Stephen Truscott is an Associate Professor. He has been a school psychologist since 1984 and practiced in New York State before entering academia. He completed his Psy.D. at the University at Albany in 1998 and taught at Alfred University and the University at Buffalo, SUNY before joining the GSU faculty in 2005.

Truscott is Editor of the Journal of Educational and Psychological Consultation. His research interests focus on improving schools and school psychology practices; particularly in respect to how school psychologists can support teachers and best serve children in need. He was awarded the 2004 Article of the Year by School Psychology Quarterly/APA Division16 for financial conflicts of interest in the school psychology assessment literature.

In 2013, Proctor and Truscott (2012) Reasons for African American student attrition from school psychology programs was recognized as a finalist for the Journal of School Psychology Article of the Year. In 2013, he was one of fifty-four researchers identified in McIntosh et al. (2013) Scientific research in school psychology: Leading researchers weigh in on its past, present, and future that appeared in the Journal of School Psychology.

In 2006, Truscott was identified as one of the top 50 research contributors in school psychology. In 2008, he was elected to membership in the Society for the Study of School Psychology. In 2002, Truscott was recognized with the University at Buffalo Graduate School of Education Outstanding Early Career Researcher Award. He has also provided consultation and program review services to 24 school districts.
