L. Jerome Brandon, (Leslie Brandon) Ph.D. is a professor at Georgia State University in the Department of Kinesiology and Health. He has also held appointments with the VA Medical Center, Research, Rehabilitation and Development, Emory University Rehabilitation Medicine and the Geriatric Institute at Georgia State University. His primary area of research is lifestyle choices and management of obesity and the metabolic syndrome in African Americans and functional ability and aging as influenced by muscle functions. He is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, the past-president of the American College of Sports Medicine-Southeast Chapter and former chair of the Fitness Council of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD). He has been funded for research by the Veteran Affairs, Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, General Mills and National Institute of Health. He had published more than 45 papers and made more than 130 professional presentations.
