Information for Prospective Students

All Undergraduate Admissions

To apply for undergraduate admission (including re-entry) in the College of Education, you will need to contact the Georgia State University Office of Admissions. The Office of Admissions has an online application, and can provide specific information for freshman, transient, and  international undergraduate students.

Georgia State University undergraduate students with a declared major in Early Childhood Education, Birth through Five Education, Health and Physical Education, Art Edcuation, Music Education, or Foreign Language Education must complete an application process in order to take most junior and senior level classes (those designated as TEA or TE in the catalog course descriptions). Students must submit the Application, Criminal Background Consent form, and Tort Liability form by the appropriate deadline (see application form for deadlines). All Graduate Admissions

Graduate Degree Admission (MAT, MEd, MS, EdS, PhD)
To apply for a graduate program in the College of Education, you must provide the following by submitting information online and in a packet of required application materials sent by post or commercial shipper. The application and the supplemental materials must be complete and in the Office of Academic Assistance and Graduate Admissions by the application completion deadline, or the application will be withdrawn from consideration.

Graduate Non-Degree (students not seeking an advanced degree)

The College of Education provides the opportunity for students who are not in direct pursuit of a graduate degree to take courses in some departments. Applicants seeking the status of non-degree student are subject to the same fees and application restrictions of other applicants, although departmental standards for admission may vary.

Graduate Transient Student (request to be a visiting student)

A student in good standing at another college or university may take classes in the College of Education as a temporary or visiting student. In addition to the application, as student usually must also present documentation of being in good standing at the home institution.

Certification-Only (toward teacher certification)

Certificate Programs are offered by the Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education. Individuals interested in these certification-only programs should contact the department at 404/413-8040 for a description of admission requirements. Information on the certification process can be found here.

Re-entry Student (request to return to a graduate program after an absence)

A student who has been enrolled at Georgia State University and who: (1) has not registered for courses at Georgia State University during the previous academic year; or (2), has been on scholastic suspension after an absence of one calendar year; or (3), has been on scholastic exclusions after an absence of five or more years; must reapply to the program  previously attended.
