Master's Student Advising
Most graduate student advising takes place in the departments with the student's program faculty advisor, an academic committee, or the faculty member most familiar with the student's program of study.
The Office of Academic Assistance and Graduate Admissions will guide masters candidates through their final clearance for graduation and Ph.D. candidates through the last phases of submitting evidence of their terminal degree.

Instructions and the application for reentry into a graduate program are available here. You will need to submit a completed application, a $25.00 application fee (check or money order made out to Georgia State University), plus official transcripts of any coursework taken since last registering at Georgia State. Reentering students are subject to the regulations of the Graduate Bulletin and the degree program current at the time of reentry.
Transfer of Graduate Credit
In order to transfer graduate credit from another regionally accredited college or university, students must initiate a transfer petition with their advisor. Guidelines for transfer credit are listed on the form.
Transfer of prior graduate credit:
Students who completed graduate credits at another institution prior to admission to their current program should submit the petition during the first term of enrollment.
Transfer of transient credit:
A student who chooses to attend another institution as a transient student during their current program, must secure permission from their academic advisor prior to enrolling at another institution. Transient authorization must also be obtained through the Office of Academic Assistance and Graduate Admissions. Failure to receive both approvals may jeopardize the transfer of credits. The form for this request is available on the Graduate Forms page in this Web site.
