Child Development Center

Parents who are also Georgia State University students, staff, and faculty have enough to do without having to worry about the type of care their children are receiving during the day. That's why the Lanette L. Suttles Child Development Center exists.

The center is designed for children of students, faculty and staff. Approximately 85 children from three months to four years of age are enrolled at the Child Development Center. The Center also operates a state funded pre-kindergarten program for four year olds.

As a service to the child care community, the center serves as a resource on all aspects of child care center operations, including personnel management, financial management, curriculum design, physical facility management, staff training, parent involvement, health care issues, and program assessment. The center is a laboratory and demonstration facility for over 175 Georgia State University students each term, coming from various programs such as early childhood education, special education, psychology, social work, nursing, physical therapy, nutrition and mental health. In addition, workshops and training on parent education issues and child health and safety practices are offered to parents.
