Destination Teaching: Customized Pathways to Get You There

The University System of Georgia has launched a new initiative - Destination Teaching: Customized Pathways to Get You There. The initiative will initially target people who want to change careers and move into teaching. It is designed to help meet the state’s increasing need for teachers.

Georgia State University’s College of Education will recruit and train mid-career professionals to teach in urban classrooms. In addition to training, the College will also provide financial incentives and mentoring. Students will be trained and required to complete service years in the Atlanta Public School System. The program will be known as the Urban Teacher Recruitment/Retention Initiative (UTRRI).
