Call for proposals for Sources of Urban Educational Excellence Conference

by Claire Miller

The program committee for the 2013 Sources of Urban Educational Excellence Conference is accepting proposals for papers, panels, symposia and other conference sessions through Feb. 22, 2013.

The conference, hosted by the Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence, will examine urban education from multidisciplinary perspectives as it addresses this year’s theme, “Wisdom, Work, Will: Advancing Educational Excellence.”

The program committee encourages pre-service and in-service kindergarten through 12th grade educators, graduate students, policy makers, community workers, and higher education faculty and scholars to submit proposals related to documenting success and challenging disparities in urban schools. Proposals could address the following educational issues:

  • Educational policy and leadership for urban excellence
  • Socialization and education of urban students
  • Definitions and articulation of “urban education”
  • Racial/ethnic, socioeconomic, linguistic and gender issues in urban education
  • Curriculum theory and practice in urban schools
  • Other areas related specifically to excellence in urban education

Proposals may be submitted electronically in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format to cueeinfo@gsu.edu or delivered in-person to:
