The College of Education will hold its Fall Convocation for graduating students on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in The Rialto Center for the Arts (80 Forsyth St. N.W., Atlanta).
While the University Commencements signify the official conferral of degrees, the College of Education Convocation, a pre-commencement ceremony, is an opportunity for the college to recognize its graduates and celebrate its students’ achievements. We encourage our graduates to participate in both events.
Due to the increase in the number of graduates, and the space limitations of the venue, we will be issuing tickets for the Fall 2012 Convocation Ceremony. Graduates will be allotted two (2) tickets each to be distributed to their guests.
Tickets can be picked up in advance in the College of Education lobby on the following dates:
Tuesday, Nov. 27, 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 29, 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 4, 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 6, 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.
Monday, Dec. 10, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
For graduates who are unable to pick up their tickets in advance, there will be a Will Call table at the Rialto on Dec. 13. This table will remain staffed at all times during the ceremony.
Students will be notified via e-mail after Dec. 7 if there are extra tickets, which will be issued on a first come, first served basis. You will be asked to confirm ticket pickup preference (in advance or at Will Call) when you register. Please note that seating location for family and friends at the Rialto is first come, first served.
Convocation will have College of Education alumnus Karin Korb (M.S. ’03) as its featured speaker. She is an accomplished, multi-sport Paralympian whose résumé includes positions as a certified fitness trainer, vice chair of the United States Tennis Association’s National Committee, motivational speaker, dancer, model and sports instructor for junior wheelchair sports and injured members of the military. For more information about Korb, click here.
Registration for this event is required and graduates wishing to participate should confirm their attendance by Dec. 7, 2012, at coeconvocation@gsu.edu or 404-413-8131.
