Sixth Annual Metro Atlanta WorldQuest

by Claire Miller

High school students from across the state will showcase their knowledge of current events and international affairs during the sixth annual Metro Atlanta Academic WorldQuest at Georgia State University March 17.

Hosted by the College of Education, the World Affairs Council of America-Atlanta (WACA), and the GSU Office of International Initiatives, WorldQuest is an academic competition that tests contestants’ knowledge of current and world events, economic policy, education and other related topics. Schools across Georgia send four-student teams to compete in the event, which asks team members to answer 10 sets of 10 questions.

“WorldQuest presents a challenging opportunity for high school students interested in international facts and issues to meet and test their knowledge alongside teams from across the state,” said Laurie Forstner, WorldQuest co-coordinator.

The winning team from this competition will represent metro Atlanta and compete with other teams from across the country at the national competition in Washington, D.C., on April 21.

Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology’s Team A won last year's Metro Atlanta Academic WorldQuest competition, which took place on March 5, 2011.
