The College of Education Alumni Club will host a Back to School Celebration Saturday, Aug. 20 from 4-7 p.m. at Georgia State University’s Alpharetta campus (3775 Brookside Pkwy., Alpharetta).
This family-friendly event will feature a number of fun activities, from games for kids and face painting to a special appearance by the university’s cheerleaders and Pounce, GSU’s mascot. Attendees can also enjoy free food and guided tours of the Alpharetta Center.
“We want to reconnect with our alumni, encourage their involvement and participation in our club events and to let them know about the programs we offer at the new Alpharetta campus,” said Elisa Tate, COE Alumni Club coordinator.
Additionally, attendees are encouraged to bring school supplies to donate to Project One-on-One, an educational mentor initiative through the Children's Restoration Network.
“Our partnership with Project One-on-One allows us to send teachers into area shelters to mentor homeless children,” Tate said. “The items collected at this event will be given to these children, who desperately need supplies for the upcoming school year.”
If you would like to attend this event, please RSVP by Aug. 12 to Elisa Tate at 404/413-8101 or etate2@gsu.edu.
