Education Career Fair March 30

by Claire Miller

Education students looking to get a jump start on their post-graduation job searches and Georgia State University graduates seeking education-related jobs will be able to meet with potential employers at an Education Career Fair on March 30.

The career fair, hosted by the College of Education and Georgia State University Career Services, invites current GSU students and alumni to meet with representatives from various school systems throughout the state. School systems currently registered to attend include Atlanta Public Schools, Bibb, Cobb, DeKalb, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett and Henry counties.

“Students and alumni have the opportunity to seek employment, work outside of the general Atlanta area and have competitive salary offers,” said Ramona Simien, assistant director of employer relations in the University Career Services office. “It's important for future educators to attend the job fair to see what career options are available. The best job search is one in which a student is willing to be flexible.”

Professional dress is encouraged, and attendees should bring copies of their vitae. Alumni will sign in and current students will swipe their student ID cards to gain access to the event, which will take place from 4-7 p.m. in Dahlberg Hall (30 Courtland St., Atlanta).

“Students and alumni should have clear specific questions prepared as well as a brief statement about their field of interest or specialty,” said Laurie Forstner, COE project coordinator. “Attendees should remember that these are not interviews, just very important informational opportunities and critical first impressions.”
