Responsibilities:

Teach in exercise science curriculum, advisement of master’s and doctoral exercise science students, serve on and Chair thesis and dissertation committees as part of graduate faculty, serve on department, college, and university committees. Dr. Thompson has a second academic appointment as a Professor in the Department of Nutrition (College of Health and Human Sciences).

Research Interests/ Community Responsibilities:

 Youth development in urban settings (serves as Project Director for the Atlanta Inner-City Games), clinical exercise physiology. Certified Program Director and Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist by the American College of Sports Medicine; Licensed Clinical Laboratory Director (Georgia); Licensed Clinical Exercise Physiologist (Louisiana); Fellow, American College of Sports Medicine; Fellow, American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation; Fellow, Research Consortium (American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance); Fellow, Southern Association for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
