  • What did they accomplish?
    Created orientation program for students new to teacher education
    Program calls for a general session, followed by program specific workshops
    A pilot orientation is planned for summer 2003

    A flyer for new teachers with important education websites will be created
    A magnet with the GSU logo and the induction website was created
    A brochure introducing the Beginning Teacher Support Program was designed and printed

    Low participation probably means no more online seminars will be planned
    School districts will be contacted to generate interest in hosting jointly new teacher seminars

    Informed of teacher conference held at Kennesaw State University in November, 2002
    GRAs collected data by phone
    KSU Conference Participation
    Committee members conducted workshops and gathered data by administering the Beginning Teacher Needs Assessment to participant volunteers
    Final student teaching seminar
    Created a power point presentation to give students reasons to agree to participate in Beginning Teacher Support Program
    New approved consent forms distributed and signed by those wishing to participate
    Each participating program held afternoon sessions with the student teachers

Future considerations:
Two people will attend the symposium on teacher induction at the New Teacher Center at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in February, 2003
