This packet of information contains helpful tips on a wide range of topics
including deafblindness, communication, hearing impairments, visual impairments,
behavior and more.
- What Effects Do Sensory Impairment
Have on Communication & Behavior
This product contains general information about the relationships between
communication and behavior and what they have in common, with useful tips
about how to recognize different types of communication and, how to receive
behavioral intervention assistance.

Brochure (formerly the Georgia Deafblind Project Brochure)
General information brochure with contact information, list of services and
technical assistance available to families and service providers.

General information brochure outlining reasons why children who are deaf or

A handy brochure to help parents plan their child’s entrance into school

Organizational tool to help parents collect and maintain the necessary information
required by school systems to receive support services. This 3-ring binder

A specialized training manual developed by GSAP to train adults to work with
siblings of children who are deafblind within the context of sibling support
groups.
- Wading Through Unknown Waters: Parent
Perspectives on Children, Disabilities and the Educational Process
A collection of stories based on interviews with family members across the
state of Georgia describing their children, experiences of finding out about
their child’s disability, and interactions with their school
system.
- Dressing and Undressing Skills for Children
with Physical or Multiple Disabilities
In association with the Bureau for Students with Physical and Health Impairments
and the Georgia State Improvement Grant, this monograph contains information
on adaptations and adaptive equipment for dressing & undressing. instructional
strategies and modifications, specific problems and IEP considerations. Especially
useful for parents and therapists working with children with physical disabilities.

& Young Adults with Deafblindness
Contains listings of national organizations, statewide associations and agencies,
family support resources and manufacturers of assistive technology. Contact
information includes web site address, email contact and brief description
of resource.

- Screening Protocol for Visual Impairments
in Children Who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing Vision Screening Monograph with CD
The Georgia Sensory Assistance Project developed a vision screening instrument
designed to detect a variety of vision impairments that can occur with children
who are deaf/hard of hearing. This instrument, known as the Screening Protocol
for Visual Impairments in Children Who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, is available
with a monograph and CD that explains proper use and implementation of the
vision screening instrument. The CD demonstrates techniques for assessing
the visual acuity, visual field and balance sections of the vision-screening
instrument. The monograph provides specific directions for the administration
of the Screening Protocol for Visual Impairments in Children who are Deaf/Hard
of Hearing. The monograph and companion CD are appropriate for school systems
and service providers who are utilizing the screening instrument.
