The Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence in the College of Education & Human Development at Georgia State University invites you to submit a proposal for the 9th Annual Sources of Urban Educational Excellence Conference to be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA).

Proposals must be submitted electronically by 11:59 p.m. EST in February 21, 2014. Notification of all proposal review decisions will be sent out via email by March 14, 2014.

The Sources of Urban Educational Excellence was conceptualized by Dr. Asa G. Hilliard and Dr. Susan Crim McClendon to create a forum for dialogue among all stakeholders who work with children in urban communities. The conference seeks to not only highlight the research and perspectives of higher education faculty and scholars, but also spotlights the work and knowledge of pre-service and in-service K-12 educators, graduate students, policy makers, and community workers interested in forging and sustaining a positive educational agenda in urban education. This year’s theme, Strengthening the Community of Believers: A Legacy of Excellence, underscores the connections among research, school and community practice, and empowerment in urban schools. The theme centers on the necessity of community in working toward sustainable change in education.
