So, you are interested in applying to the Master’s degree program in Communication Disorders at Georgia State University.
Here are some important pieces of information:
- An average of 45 students are enrolled in our program full-time.
- The applicant pool ranges from 75-100 each year.
- Typically, 18-20 individuals start in the program every year as a cohort group.
- Each accepted individual is given a tentative schedule for coursework and practicum upon enrollment/advising.
APPLICANTS MUST:
- Hold an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- A major in Communication Disorders is NOT required.
- Have earned a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.5.
- Have a minimum score of 800 on the GRE.
- 400 minimum on both Verbal and Quantitative.
- Pass the GACE Exam
- To be exempt from the GACE Exam, you must have one of the following:
- GRE score of 1030 or higher
- SAT score of 1000 or higher
- ACT score of 43 or higher
- Submit at least two letters of recommendation from instructors or employers.
- More than two letters of recommendation are HIGHLY recommended.
- Letters of recommendation forms are available in the College of Education application.
- Submit a written career goal statement (300 to 500 words).
- Submit the College of Education Application.
- Submit ALL application materials together in one packet.
- Make sure to account for this aspect when completing your application. Get an early start on your application, especially letters of recommendation, and GRE scores so that you can allow for possible mailing delays.
- Please do not wait until January to submit your materials.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Application forms are available for download from the Georgia State University Graduate School website. All letters and application materials must be submitted to the Office of Academic Assistance no later than January 15 for Fall or Summer admission. Applicants are encouraged to submit their materials well in advance of the deadline (i.e., in November or December).
A selected number of individuals will be contacted to schedule an interview during the months of February or March. As part of the interview process, applicants will be asked to write a short essay upon arrival and will meet with faculty members to discuss career plans and reasons for seeking this degree.
