Guide to programs in EPSE

 

Our Behavior and Learning Disabilities (BLD) Program includes initial certification (IC) in Special Education General Curriculum (IR) for persons already holding a college degree. The IC in Special Education General Curriculum (IR) covers certification to teach students with mild disabilities that include emotional and behavior disorders, learning disabilities, and mild intellectual disabilities. The BLD program also offers a master’s degree (M.Ed.) and a doctoral degree (Ph.D.).

Our Communication Disorders (CD) Program is a master’s degree program (M.Ed.) that prepares speech-language pathologists to work with individuals of all ages who have communication disorders. The program leads to educational licensure by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, licensure by the Georgia Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and certification by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).

Our Educational Psychology (EPY) Program emphasizes the application of the principles of psychology to the systematic study of education. A major in educational psychology allows a student to emphasize such content areas as learning, instruction, lifespan development, applied behavior analysis, cognition, and socialization. The educational psychology program prepares a student to pursue a variety of career paths, including research, evaluation, and the applied practice of a number of disciplines. The EPY program offers both a master’s degree (M.S.) and a doctoral degree (Ph.D.).

Our Multiple and Severe Disabilities (MSD) Program prepares a student to teach children with moderate, severe, and profound mental retardation, autism, physical and health impairments, deaf/hard of hearing, and to teach young children with disabilities. The program offers initial certification (IC) in all the above listed disability areas. The MSD program also offers a master’s degree (M.Ed.) and a doctoral degree (Ph.D.).
