We congratulate our student Olivia Bailey for winning a Bright Horizons scholarship with the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. There were 13 recipients nationwide and Olivia was the only one from Georgia! The Bright Futures Scholarship Program supports the field of early childhood education by offering scholarships for future teachers. The scholarship program encourages students of great promise to continue pursuing their dreams of caring for and teaching young children. Criteria for selection included proof of academic excellence, a personal essay demonstrating their commitment to early childhood teaching and need, as well as strong endorsements
by their references.
Olivia is working towards her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Georgia State University, Alpharetta Campus. The love of learning was instilled in Olivia by her second grade teacher who made Olivia feel important and made learning fun. She hopes someday to be an inspiration to other young children. Olivia has been steadfast in achieving her educational goals. She had done this while juggling motherhood and home, working tirelessly on her course work well into the night, after tucking her children into bed. Susan Guest, Field Supervisor at Georgia State University, noted that in Olivia she sees a very competent, committed, and passionate young teacher who believes that with early learning all children can be poised to succeed.
