Bio

Dr. Yali Zhao joined the Department of Early Childhood Education in 2004. Prior to her appointment at Georgia State University, she held a graduate research and teaching assistantship in the Department of Social Science Education at University of Georgia. She taught English, social science and humanity courses at universities in China for about 12 years before coming to the United States in 2000 to pursue her doctoral degree. She obtained her Ph.D in Social Science Education at University of Georgia in 2004. Her teaching and research interests have focused on cultural diversity and social science education, technology application in classrooms, international and comparative education, and teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). She has publications in a variety of journals, including The Social Studies, Social Education, the International Journal of Social Education, Journal of Technology and Teacher Education, International Education Journal, Social Studies and the Young Learners, Asia-Pacific Cybereducation Journal, and Asia-Pacific Journal of Teacher Education.
