Information for Literacy Coordinators
Teachers who have completed Reading Recovery teacher or teacher leader training OR who have completed Literacy Collaborative Coordinator training now qualify for the Georgia Professional Standards Committee (GAPSC) "Reading Endorsement."
Directions for obtaining the endorsement:
- Get a Georgia PSC Application Package by downloading and printing The Complete Package from the web site http://www.gapsc.com/ or by calling (404) 657-9000 or (800) 869-7775 and requesting an application package.
- Complete the Georgia PSC Application requesting the transaction of "add a clear renewable certificate field(s)" and list the field of "reading endorsement" in the space below where indicated. Complete the rest of the form on the reverse side.
- Complete the top part of the form (boxes) of the Georgia PSC Approved Program Recommendation Form, by filling in your name, date of birth, and social security number. Complete the "Certification/Endorsement Field(s)" box (middle of the page) by listing "Reading Endorsement" and "833" for the field code. Do not fill in any other parts of the form as this will be completed by Georgia State University.
- Mail only the GAPSC Approved Program Recommendation Form and a stamped self addressed envelope to:

The Office of Academic Assistance (OAA) will complete the "certification official" sections and affix the school seal on your form. The form will then be returned to you.
If your GSU transcript with your RR or LC coursework is not already on file with GAPSC, request an official copy of your GSU transcript on the web by following these steps:
- Access student.gosolar.gsu.edu and select GOSOLAR
- Enter your Student ID, which may be your Social Security Number, and your PIN. First-time users will enter their birth date (MMDDYY) as their PIN and will be prompted to create a new six-digit PIN. You are entitled to five (5) lifetime transcripts. Once you have exhausted your five, free transcripts, Georgia State will charge a $10.00 processing fee for each transcript processed thereafter. There is a three (3) business days processing period for web requests; written requests may require up to fifteen (15) business days.
- Complete the GAPSC Employer Assurance Form in order to verify that you are employed in a Georgia school system and therefore can have the $20 processing fee waived. If you are not currently employed in a GA school system, the $20 processing fee cannot be waived.
- Mail the completed GAPSC Application, Approved Program Recommendation Form, Employer Assurance Formor $20 application fee, and an official (sealed & unopened) GSU transcript (if necessary) to:

- Your certificate with endorsement will be returned to you in approximately 4-5 weeks. You can check the status of your application on the GA PSC web site on the "Certification Channel" by entering your SSN.
