Pilcher Research Forum - The Pilcher Forum (named in honor of Dr. Lorene Pilcher, Professor Emeritus at Georgia State University) is a group of faculty and doctoral students in early childhood interested in sharing current research and professional practices in a social setting. The group meets each semester to provide a forum for discussion and collaboration on topics of current interest.
Early Childhood Graduate Student Collaborative - The Early Childhood Graduate Student Collaborative (ECGSC) is a mentoring and student council association for Early Childhood graduate students. ECGSC was established as an effort to provide support for graduate students’ development as students, researchers, educators, and scholars. Furthermore, the mission of the ECGSC is to provide a structured support system and collective voice among students and faculty. Some of the past and present initiatives sponsored by the Early Childhood Graduate Student Collaborative include (a) hosting meet and greet sessions to welcome new doctoral students to the ECE department, (b) chartering of the organization, (c) sponsoring seminars such as Writing towards IRB Acceptance, (c) and mentoring new doctoral students.
GAE-SP (Georgia Association of Educators - Student Program) - supports aspiring teachers at Georgia State University and across the state of Georgia. Throughout the year this organization hosts lunch meetings with guest speakers talking about everything from classroom management techniques to applying for teaching jobs to international education. Additionally, GAE-SP promotes two service projects that support students and the field of education (e.g. collecting children's books, collecting school supplies, etc.).
