Bio

Laura E. Meyers has worked in the field of education for over 10 years.  Her experiences have taken her from college recruitment to the elementary and university classrooms.  Her teaching career started in Charleston, South Carolina in a fourth grade, urban classroom.  She followed her interests in elementary education to Purdue University and taught pre-service teachers in courses such as children’s literature, social studies methods, literacy and language arts methods, and introductions to elementary education.  Her current areas of research include: social studies education, teacher training practices, and children’s literature in regards to literacy and social studies instruction. 

Laura E. Meyers joined the Early Childhood Education faculty in 2004.  Currently, she serves as the faculty advisor of the Student Georgia Association of Educators.  She is a member of the National Council for the Social Studies and the National Council of Teachers of English, among other local and regional associations.
