Georgia State University
Teacher Educator/Educator Preparation
All students must achieve passing scores on the reading,
writing, and mathematics sections of the Praxis I Assessment before
they can enroll in designated teacher preparation courses. We offer
the following opportunities for students to prepare for the assessment.
Praxis I Preview
Counseling Center, 404/651-2211
http://www.gsu.edu/~wwwcou/
This introductory workshop is designed to acquaint
students with basic information about PRAXIS I. The workshop will
focus on the three parts of the exam -reading, writing, and mathematics
-and will offer strategies for success on each part. Because this
program is designed to provide a general overview of the exam and
is limited to 2 hours, it cannot provide individualized, intensive
preparation. It will, however, offer information on follow-up opportunities
for additional preparation in the three areas.
This workshop is cosponsored by the Counseling Center
and the College of Education. The workshop is free but prior registration
is required. Please call 404/651 2211 for future dates and times
and to register.
Praxis I Practice
Cooperative Learning Lab, 122 Kell Hall
During each academic term, tutors are available in the Cooperative
Learning Lab to assist students with the mathematics portion of
the PRAXIS I assessment. This service is provided by the Department
of Mathematics and Statistics of the College of Arts and Sciences.
For more information, contact the Cooperative Learning Lab in person
or at 404/651-3365.
