Welcome to Georgia State University's Online Guide to developing and assessing learning outcomes. These pages and links are designed to assist faculty to work through the process of deciding on the knowledge, skills and attitudes that students should have when successfully completing the requirements of a course, program major, and degree.

It is recognized that the various parts of the University will have discipline-specific approaches to specifying outcomes for students. For example, various professional fields already have well-developed frameworks of learning outcomes that help define the programs and courses at Georgia State. For example, professional organizations and accrediting agencies define much of what a nurse or a teacher or an accountant must know and skills to be demonstrated. Conversely, disciplines in the arts and humanities traditionally are not as prescribed.
