This year the faculty did not assess any specific outcomes. We revisited the learning outcomes in light of our reffirmation of accreditation for both programs. The Field Supervisors’ Rating Form was edited to more closely as an assessment tool for the learning outcomes in both programs. The Concentration Year Field Supervisors’ Rating Form was reformatted to conform to the stated objectives for that specialization year.
The primary achievement for both BSW and MSW programs was the granting of reaffirmation of accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Social Work Education through 2012. This receipt of accreditation confirms that the School’s overall assessment plan and plans for self-renewal met the standard set for the accrediting body. Nevertheless, the School recognizes that there are differences in purpose between the accreditation from an external accrediting body and the University’s Assessment of Learning Outcomes Project.
However, as part of that process, the School did move content that had been taught in the Foundation Year Research Course (SW 7300) to the Concentration Year Evaluation and Technology (SW 8200).
During the next academic year, the School will be analyzing the data from the assessment to determine curriculum changes in the BSW program in Goal III, Critical Thinking as it supports BSW Program Objective 6 Apply the knowledge and skills of a generalist social work practice with systems of all sizes.
No changes were made this year to the Department’s Assessment Goals. They were reformatted into the current design in our Assessment Plan.
