Minutes

 

Present: =  Joan Carson , Tim Crimmins, Harry D= angel, Bill Downs, Sarah Pallas, George Pullman, George Rainbolt, Don Reitzes, and Marty Singer

 

  1.  

    1. Discussion of how to support having departments with courses in the core (A-E) assess gener= al education outcomes.

     

      1. Review each current General Education core report and provide feedback to the committee representative in that area (Harry).
      2. Develop a matrix with= departments with courses in areas A-E, the gen ed outcomes previously assessed in= the courses and the persons involved.
      3. Consult with individu= al gen ed area representatives for guidance in contacting chairs.
      4. Contact chairs with courses in the core, provide information about gen ed core assessment= work over past years and consult with them about which objective they will assess. Department chairs will choose a faculty member to coordinate assessment in the dept and that this person will get $1,000 stipend i= f the report meets the standards set by this committee
      5.  
      6. In consultation with = gen ed core committee members, review departmental assessment plans for c= ore assessment.
      7. Establish guidelines = for reports due during the summers and conditions to be met to earn stipe= nd.
