Department of Kinesiology and Health
The
Sports Sciences Ph.D. program is designed to prepare students to teach and
conduct research in the area of their concentration. The focus of the Exercise Physiology concentration is
to enhance understanding of the effects of acute and chronic exercise on
physiological responses, and the prevention and/or rehabilitation of
cardiovascular, metabolic, and neuromuscular diseases. The focus of the Biomechanics concentration is the
scientific description of human movement through advanced techniques utilizing
computerized high-speed videographical analysis systems, computerized force
measuring systems, electromyography, and other state-of-the-art instrumentation
with applications in many disciplines, including ergonomics, engineering,
medicine, sport, and exercise. The
focus of the Physical Rehabilitative Science concentration is the evaluation,
management, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injury.
