Sports Sciences Ph.D. Program

 

Mission

 

The Sports Sciences Ph.D. program is designed to prepare students to teach and conduct research in the area of their concentration.  The focus of the Exercise Physiology concentration is to enhance understanding of the effects of acute and chronic exercise on physiological responses, and the prevention and/or rehabilitation of cardiovascular, metabolic, and neuromuscular diseases. The focus of the Biomechanics concentration is the scientific description of human movement through advanced techniques utilizing computerized high-speed videographical analysis systems, computerized force measuring systems, electromyography, and other state-of-the-art instrumentation with applications in many disciplines, including ergonomics, engineering, medicine, sport, and exercise.  The focus of the Physical Rehabilitative Science concentration is the evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injury.
