Broad-Based Literacy Research

Research is conducted by faculty, graduate students, and literacy providers from many different departments within Georgia State University and the broader community.

Research efforts include:

  • Assessment of effective reading instruction for adult learners.
  • Development of culturally and educationally literacy sensitive mammograpy software program.
  • Case studies of female GED graduates,
  • Analysis of word reading knowledge of children and adult learners,
  • Examining the relationship between mothers' functional literacy levels, the Head Start child's preschool learning experience, and child outcomes.
  • Analysis of transition experiences of black parents and their children from elementary school to middle school.
  • Evaluations of local family literacy programs.
  • Assessment of functional health literacy.
  • Tracking of workforce students.
