As Associate Director of the Center for the Study of Adult Literacy, I provide technical assistance and support to adult literacy providers, advocates, learners, and researchers. I conduct both applied and basic research in adult literacy including: word reading knowledge and effective reading instruction of adults and children, evaluation of family literacy programs, reading attitudes of middle school children, and mammography knowledge of low literate women. I moderate the National Institute for Literacy’s women and literacy listserv, organize the International Women and Literacy Conference, assist with the production of our Center’s newsletter, organize various adult literacy workshops, and supply our Resource Room with the latest adult literacy materials.
